If you are the white glittery wedding boot girl, this may not be your jam. But If you live a bold life, drink a ‘lil whiskey, love adventure and wear whatever you want to wear this is for you. Maybe you're interested in being a wild child and you just need a ‘lil direction. WE ARE HERE FOR YOU.
Sometimes we get a little caught up in what everyone else is doing. If your vision is that beautiful “white glittery boot” we’re so happy you know what you want. If it isn't, we can’t wait to see what killer boot you are going to choose to walk down that aisle in.
I was a hairdresser that specialized in wedding and special event hair for 10 years. The one common denominator from all my brides when it was all said and done, they didn't sacrifice and stayed with the style they wanted! Boots are an incredibly unique piece. If you want red ones on your wedding, wear red. If you want black, wear back. Wedding are about portraying who two are, your love, your life and your style.
Girl, don't invite that person if you don't want to. Don't have a cake if you don't want to and burn your budget on your flowers.
Your wedding is about YOU. Phew- ok back to boots.
I believe that your wedding should be true to you and your husband’s style. You should be comfortable and feel like the most gorgeous you, so if i can help be your boot picker it would make my day (seriously, just email me).
So without further ado i give you my version of a “wedding boot”

Randi

For those of you who have had a pair of Lucchese you know that the comfort and quality is unmatched, but here are a few things you may not already know:
Lucchese Bootmakers actually in 1883 as a US Calvary Boot shop, in San Antonio, Texas. From there, Luccese evolved into a custom boot shop that focused on the highest quality and fit standards and focus on fit defined who we have become today.
It has been a favorite of movie stars, presidents, country music stars and other celebrities for years. Noteworthy mentions include, former presidents LBJ, the Bushes, Johnny and June Carter Cash, George Strait and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Recent fans of our brand include Scotty McCreary, Eric Church, Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake (probably the only one that shocked me).
The majority of their are manufactured in El Paso,TX. We partner with some of the finest footwear manufacturers in Mexico and Brazil for our fashion forward styles.
All their boots are warranted for one year against manufacturer's defects and material flaws. They also handle repairs for common wear and tear and other damage that may not be covered by the warranty for a nominal fee. Side note: a girl friend of mine got hers resoled recently by Lucchese, the customer service and turnaround time were impeccable!
In virtually every step of their boot making process, they rely on human hands to complete old tasks to perfection. They have quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process that insure that each pair are made to Lucchesse standards.
Most boots take 6-8 weeks to be produced. they keep our factory at a level that supports current demand and maintains the level of quality that comes with every pair made. Custom boots are made by true artisans. Their backlog of custom boots can be up to one year depending on the intricacies of the boot.
Check out all of our Lucchese Boots here!

The use of tanning drums goes back hundreds of years. Even as metal and plastic manufacturing has improved over the years, wooden drums are still the most widely used. This part of the process uses a fair amount of chemicals and the wood can withstand strong alkaline solutions and chemicals. They are also cheaper when modifications or repairs are needed as opposed to their stainless steel or plastic counterparts.

Once the hides are tanned, they are shaved. Shaving not only removes the excess from around the edges, but also gives a uniform thickness to the hide as well. If the hide didn't have uniform thickness, it would absorb pigment at different rates as well as lay on the shoe surface in an uneven manner. Below are photos of before and after (right corner).
No, this isn't the most interesting or glamorous step, but it may be the single step that is the most important for a quality hide. Until next week!

]]>When you think the world capitol of leather footwear, where do you think? China? Italy? It's Leon, Mexico. Cool, right?
Leon was founded in 1576 by the Spanish Conquistadores. The Spanish farmers established farming and cattle ranches, which are still present today. The rapid growth in cattle ranches led to the success of tanneries and, as early as 1645, the region became known for it shoemaking.
Fast forward a few hundred years, and there are as many as 3,400 shoe manufacturing companies in Leon. All of the tanneries are located in one district, seen below. This is where our journey started!

Over the next few months, each week we will post a blog detailing a part in the life of a boot, if nothing else, the pictures and videos are awesome. We learned that the individuals who make these boots are not simply 'workers', they are artisans. Being fortunate enough to have this experience has changed my view on boots, and I hope it will yours as well!
This is us soon after we landed.
]]>We have put together a collection of our favorite fall looks and want to share them with you!
Up first on our list of goodies is our adorable Toccoa Hooded Top. Hello beautiful fall colors! We love this top for many reasons, but one of of the more notable reasons is how light and flowy this piece is! You can pair it with a cute scarf, or throw a simple vest over it if you need a little more warmth! The best part is the ability to match it with so many things in your closet! Here we have it paired with dark green corduroy and our favorite Old Gringo boots. We're serious, it matches with everything.
https://www.ruralhaze.com/collections/clothing/products/toccoa-hooded-top
Sometimes you need a simple piece to wear alone, or to pair with other items in that wonderful closet of yours. Don't worry girl, this top has you covered. The bell sleeves are complimented by lace yokes that allows it to stand alone with nothing but a little pop of jewelry and gives it that edgy touch without going over the top. Kick it up a notch and add a cardigan or neutral vest to keep you a little more cozy. Brunch with the girls or a day at the office, you'll be right on trend
Excuse us while we do a double take! What a sleek and sassy kimono! The burgundy voile fabric with a raised dotted print is all the hot stuff right now. Look a little bit closer and you'll see that the open sleeves are decorated with a stripped ruffle that puts this baby over the top. We feel like this is a staple piece everyone needs in their closet for the season! We have it paired with cheetah jeans and glitter boots for a real "wow" factor that would be perfect for girls night. Throw it over your favorite work attire and be the best dressed at your 9-5!

Last, but certainly not least on our fall favorites journey, the Halltown Stripped Flower Embroidery Pullover. We love how subtle yet trendy this sweatshirt is! The brightly colored shoulder embroidery allows you to take this piece from fall to spring without a hitch. This is an easy item to throw on when you're in a hurry and still feel put together. Add a statement necklace and you're ready to take on the day!

Make sure you check out all of our new arrivals to get you ready for the season and remember, always free shipping on domestic orders over $50!
Until next month friends, drink all the pumpkin spice and stay cozy.

]]>We know that one of the most stressful aspects of ordering online is trying to figure out your sizing and fit. We are writing this blog in hopes to give you a little more information that will help ease your mind and find the perfect fit for you!
Below is a guide that should help you determine what your boot size is.
Stand on a piece of paper and mark the points at the back of your heel and tip of your toes. Measure the length in between as that’s your foot length.
Wear the kind of socks you will wear with your boots. Socks can add a 1/2 size to your feet.
Measure both feet as these may be different. If one foot is larger, choose the larger size. If you are between sizes, order 1/2 size up.
It may help to place your heel against a flat surface like a wall and measure from the wall to the tip of your big toe. Having someone trace your foot onto a sheet of paper can make it easier to get the right measurements.
The heel measurement is taken around the heel and instep diagonally. Using a measuring tape, you’ll need to measure from the lowest part of your heel and go around up past your ankle to the highest point of your instep. This will determine the widest measurements of your feet and the best boot width for you. Make sure you do this for both feet and always use the largest foot measurements. Medium width for a woman’s boot is “M” width (medium or regular width). Wide width is labeled “W”.
Medium width for a man’s boot is “D” width. Wide width is labeled “EE”.
Once you get your foot length and width measurements, match your largest foot length and width measurements against our boot size chart.
Note, only selected styles are available in wide width. If your feet are a wide width (and the style of your selection is not offered in wide width), try ordering a 1/2 size larger than your normal size.
Try your boots on carpeted floor. This will allow you to see how they fit without showing any signs of wear on the boot. Sit down in a bend or in a chair. Grab the boot’s pull straps on each side of the boot and angle your foot downward into the shaft of the boot. Pull the boot up until you you feel a slight resistance on the shaft, or your foot reaches the heel/counter area. Now, continue pulling the boot gently toward you using the boot pull straps. Carefully stand up and step down into the boot allowing your foot to completely enter the boot.
Always try on both boots – your feet may be two different sizes. Remember to wear the same type of socks you have used to determine your boot size or wear socks that allow you to feel comfortable with your boots. Once the boots are on, there should be enough room in the toe area for your toes to move slightly. Snugness on the instep (vamp) is vital for a proper fit and will stretch out and go away. The leather should be snug across the instep, but not too tight. The instep of the boot should fit snugly over the top of the arch of your foot (more snugly than the fit in your normal shoe or sneaker). Your entire foot should feel snug in the boot except for your heel.
The heel of your foot should slip slightly. When a boot is new, the sole is stiff. As you wear the boot, the sole is flexed. With time most of the slippage you feel should disappear. If the slip feels excessive you may want to wear a thicker sock. Note though that a slippage is necessary to obtain a proper fit.
Your foot should rest comfortably at the widest part of the inner sole of the boot. Unlike feeling for the fit in your toes (as you would in trying on a shoe or sneaker), the proper location of the ball of your foot in the boot will ensure a good fit throughout. If the ball of your foot sits too far forward in the boot, your toes will uncomfortably crowd in the toe box of the boot. There should be at least a thumbs width of space between your toes and the end of your boot.
Here are a few suggestions that we have for you that might help!
If you're anything like us, it took awhile to learn all the terminology of a boot and their fit. Understanding the "anatomy" (so to speak) of your boot will help you in finding your right fit and it's nice to be able to have a response when you hear someone say "How does the instep feel?" The what?! Here's a little guide that will help you sound like an expert. Plus, knowledge is power. Right?
We hope this helps! If you have any questions that aren't answered in this blog, shoot us an email at info@ruralhaze.com!

]]>Guess what ya'll? We're participating in the Pendleton Round-up this year, so we thought it would be fitting to shed some light on this exciting week and what it's all about!
The first Pendleton Round-Up followed a July 4th celebration in 1909 consisting of bronc riding, horse races by Indians and Non-Indians, Indian feasts and war dances, greased pig contests, sack races, foot races and fireworks. It was after this event that community leaders came together and decided that Pendleton Round-Up would be an annual event that would commence around the middle of September. This allowed grain farmers time to complete their harvest, and the livestock owners time to get in their late summer check-ups.
The first official documented show was held in 1910 with 7,000 attendees and the entire town closed their shops. Growth and acceptance of the round-up exceeded all expectations, even after closing for two years due to WWII.
One aspect of this rodeo that we LOVE is the fact that they do not allow sponsorships inside the arena. No signage and no sponsor flags have touched the arena in order to keep the true Western traditional look. When is the last time you remember addending a rodeo that didn't have sponsor adds decorating the chutes and fencing?! We think it's awesome that Pendleton is trying to preserve the history look. Also, in 1951 the stadium was turfed in order to be used for football games. Rodeo on grass...what?!
The rodeo is of course the highlight and heart of Round-Up week, but the entire town transforms into a fun-filled festival with activities for anyone and everyone! Main Street is closed to motorized traffic and filled with vendors, carnival rides, and live music!
The festivities kick off at 10am Saturday September 8th and end late Saturday September 15th! Everyday day there are multiple activities and things to keep ya entertained! If you want the full schedule of the weeks events, follow the link below:
https://www.pendletonroundup.com/p/round-up/309
We are so excited to be apart of this historic event this year and we will have our vendor booth up from Tuesday 9/11-Saturday 9/15! Make sure you stop by and say hello! Keep an eye out on our social media outlets for updates and behind the scenes!
We hope to see you there!

Happy October Ladies! We were lucky enough to work with Style Me Lauren this month, below she shares this month's favorites with you!
Hi guys! So excited to be back on the blog sharing some October favorites with you!! Right now, army green is trending and with that comes military inspired jackets! Or is it the other way around!? ;) Either way, I'm all in and SO loving this trend! Today I've teamed up with Rural Haze to share with you my favorite way to style an outfit and sharing 3 different army inspired jackets and accessories that I know you will love!!
First up is this darling Baird Safari patchwork jacket with a faux fur hood. Anything with a fluffy hood is instantly adorable in my book! This jacket fits true to size, has a full length zipper and I love that it has a cute tie in front. The patchwork only adds to the cuteness of this jacket! This jacket is warm, cozy, and cute! I paired this jacket with The Empire Erimish bracelet set and a darling Hobo red wallet! I love how the reds really complimented the cute red patchwork!!
About two years ago, a friend referred me to the blog www.stylemelauren.com, I fell in love. She is all kinds of classy with a little spice. Fast forward thru a few months and I felt startstuck for the first time.
I was pulling to my driveway one afternoon and got a phone call. 'Hi Jane, this is Lauren Condit' *Silence* 'With StyleMeLauren' *Stop breathing*
Ha! STYLE ME LAUREN is calling ME. A mutual friend had let her know that we started as an Etsy shop and she was looking into starting a handbag line (which is amazing btw). Long story short, she launched her brand and joined us at many of our holiday shows. From Salinas to Vegas, we got to know each other. She has amazing lashes, a beautiful heartfelt smile, a kind demeanor and a stellar work ethic.
Lauren's blog has blown up and you all need to do yourselves a favor and follow. She was kind enough to highlight a few of our favorite dresses. See below, or better yet, go to www.stylemelauren.com to read the blog and sign up for her adorable newsletter <3

I haven't done a blog post personally, since before Billy was born. He is now 4 months old, in 18 month clothing and the center of our hearts. Just three years ago I had no plans to ever get married or have children, just large aspirations to be the coolest Aunt this side of the Mississippi.
Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, if you knew me in college, you may recall a few Halloween parties. Personally, my bank account recalls the noise violations. Now, Halloween has a whole new meaning. While Billy is too young to remember, I couldn't miss the opportunity. A dear friend of ours, Alice, was kind enough to make this little nugget into the King of the Jungle. What were you and/or your kids for Halloween?
Up next: an update on our Holiday Dress Collection!

Rainier Lace Dress
This dress doesn’t just stop at its breathtaking lace, but it melts our hearts with the scalloped neckline and elegant pleats. The two-inch-thick straps are sure to please and stay wonderfully through any bridal occasion. The gold zipper is a fun accent and makes this dress even more appealing from behind.
Idanha Crochet Dress
This simple but sweet dress won us over with the beautiful detailed lace neckline. The crochet continues in stripped patterns down the front that are small in perspective but make the dress something to swoon over. You will love the one button back that keeps you comfortable and moveable at dinner or shower. More is definitely not less when it comes to this dress.
Shedd Caged Dress
We aren’t lying when we say that this dress is the perfect combination between classy and sassy. The caged front and back provides not only comfort but the look that is so in style this summer. The simplicity of this dress provides a perfect fit for any bridal occasion as well as a flowy fun dress that you are sure to love.
Princeton Crochet Dress
One of my favorites! The bell sleeves will have you in love at first sight. It is the perfect dress for any bride during her special days before the wedding. The crochet top is an effortless highlight to the A-line bust and flows perfectly into the simple bottom. The tie back will keep your shoulders covered and provide movability and comfort. A must have!

]]>I'm sitting here, sipping my coffee, eating dutch muffins (not sure what they really are, my mother in law made them, but they are addicting), watching the snow fall, and reflecting on all I have to be thankful for this holiday season. Here is just a short list:
1. I am thankful for all of you. My little custom-order Etsy shop has become something I could have never envisioned when I began my Western chic journey. I am referring to so much more than purchases, but instead to the many friendships I have made through Rural Haze. Whether it was a simple email, phone conversation or meeting in person, each of you have touched me in such a wonderful way.
2. I am thankful for my husband, Peter. While I am warm, sitting inside writing this blog, he is out in the 6 inches of snow we got last night, spreading more straw for the cows so they can stay cozy.
3. I am thankful that even though I physically left CA, that it still only feels like a few hours away. It still feels like home, and I'm sure, will for a while.
4. A simple follow-up to #3; I am thankful for all of the new relationships I have made in Idaho and for my in-laws who have truly made me a part of their family.
5. I am thankful for Flying M Coffee in downtown Nampa, ID and their peanut butter and chocolate Krispy Treats. If you've ever had them, you likely agree with me in the fact that they deserve to be on this list.
6. Last, but not least: I am thankful someone had a different plan than I. Peter and I are expecting our first child on our 1st wedding anniversary (to the day- not kidding). Not the quite a few years in we had planned on, but now that the reality has really sunk in, it's a little less scary and more exciting. Don't get me wrong, I'm still terrified, but I figure our dog has turned out ok...?
Wishing you and yours a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope during your time with loved ones, you laugh until you have to pee, get at least one super too-long awkward hug, no coal in your stocking and sore cheeks on Dec. 26th from smiling so much in the previous days.
XOXO,
Jane

]]>We got our first Fall rain today and it warmed my soul (it could also be the red wine... details). I started my fall wardrobe a bit premature by rocking our new Gibbonsville Plaid Vest yesterday when it was 80. Ugh. Still, though, I loved it!

Plaid is definitely going to be a staple this season for bohemian chic clothing lovers, including large buffalo plaid, as well as the traditional tartan-style plaid seen here:
